The SCPHRP is based in the MRC Human Genetics Unit, Western General Hospital, Edinburgh. Fellows will be based in the Human Genetics Unit in Edinburgh, but may also be co-located in another organisation or institution elsewhere in Scotland.
The appointment will be made within the MRC Band 4, salary range £25,622 to £31,358 per annum. We offer optional membership to the MRC pension scheme and excellent training and development opportunities as well as a generous holiday entitlement.

The SCPHRP’s is led by the inspiring Professor John Frank, the internationally renowned epidemiologist.
Our core mandate is to:

Identify key areas of opportunity for developing novel public health interventions that equitably address major health problems in Scotland, and move those forward.

Foster collaboration between government, researchers and the public health community in Scotland to develop a national programme of intervention development, large–scale implementation and robust evaluation.

Build capacity within the public health community for collaborative research of the highest quality, with maximum impact on Scottish policies, programs and practice.
The Fellowships offer a unique advanced training opportunity in public health for those who have completed their doctoral studies (or equivalent) in public health or a related discipline and who also have a number of years experience of working in public health research, policy or practice. Fellows will contribute to the development and piloting of novel interventions that address major public health problems in Scotland. They will also have an opportunity to work in a variety of research, policy and practice settings. The position will particularly appeal to those with an interest in: working at the interface of research, policy and practice; cross-sectoral collaboration; and knowledge transfer.
