Lister Prize awarded to
Dr Andrew Jackson:

Dr Andrew Jackson has just been awarded a prestigious Lister Prize for his work on disorders of brain size. The Lister Institute, the UK´s original medical research charity, has a century long and distinguished history funding biomedical research.
He joins several others in the Unit who have also been supported by the Institute as Lister fellows, Professor's Ian Jackson, Wendy Bickmore and Dr Ian Adams.

Beit Memorial Fellowship
Dr Abdelkader Essafi:

Dr Abdelkader Essafi has been awarded a prestigious Beit Memorial Fellowship for Medical Research (BMFMR) on his work on the Wilm’s tumour protein role in the epithelial-mesenchymal balance. He will carry out his work with Professor Nick Hastie, CBE, FRS.
“BMFMR are highly prestigious three year personal research fellowships on offer to two applicants per year. The BMFMR was established in 1909 by Sir Otto Beit in memory of his brother, Alfred Beit. Since then, no less than six fellows have gone on to become Nobel laureates”.
In the unit, Dr Essafi joins Professor Veronica Van Heyningen, DPhil FRS FRSE FMedSci as a Beit fellow.
