Epigenesys European network of excellence: November 2012

Colin Semple and Richard Meehan have been elected to a network of excellence for research in epigenetics. The FP7 European Community-funded Epigenesys Network of Excellence (www.epigenesys.eu) is an ambitious initiative to create new collaborations and accelerate research in this exciting field. The goals of Epigenesys are to encourage collaboration and understanding between the fields of epigenetics and computational systems biology, and also to communicate the science to the wider public. Member labs can participate in a variety of training programs, collaborative workshops, symposia, and exchange of personnel between labs.
Sarah Carpanini- Verne Chapman award: November 2012

PhD student Sarah Carpanini has won the Vern Chapman Award at the International Mammalian Genome Conference in Florida last month.
The award is for the best presentation by a student or a postdoc and comes with a cash prize plus an honorary position on the Secretariat of the International Mammalian Genome Society which will give her all expenses paid trips to the next two Conferences, in Spain and in the USA.
Sarah is currently in the third year of her PhD working in the laboratories of Ian Jackson and Irene Aligianis investigating the underlying pathology and aetiology of Warburg Micro syndrome.
